An electrician to install it safely.
Why whole-home surge protection
Smart thermostats, EV chargers, solar inverters and appliances all have sensitive electronics. A panel surge protector stops big spikes from lightning or the grid before they reach them. The 2023 electrical code now requires one in new and upgraded services.
How I researched this: Square D’s HOM250PSPD product page and specs, the Amazon listing, and Schneider Electric’s installation video. Prices checked October 30, 2026.
