How We Compared Them
Span and Lumin both give you automatic load-shedding: if the grid goes down, they can shut off high-draw circuits on their own so your backup battery lasts through the night, no manual switching required. Span replaces your whole panel and gives you a circuit breaker on every circuit; Lumin retrofits onto your existing panel and adds smart control to 12 circuits, which is usually cheaper if your panel is otherwise fine. Leviton's Smart Load Center is the odd one out: it gives you excellent per-circuit monitoring and remote on/off control, but it does not automatically shed load during an outage, so it's a better fit if you mainly want visibility and manual control rather than hands-off backup management.
